The 3rd annual Kansas City People’s Choice Awards took place in Kansas City on August 8th! The ceremony, hosted by Terrell Ray, was created to recognize and award excellence in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. This year, political and civic leader Alvin L. Brooks received the Lifetime Achievement Award and I Am King Foundation founder, KC Kings Coach, and T-Shirt Kings owner Chris Evans received the Humanitarian Award.

The ceremony featured over 60 categories, including Best Radio Personality, Best Music Producer, Best Hair Stylist, Best Educator, Best Youth Sports Organization, Best Author, Best Podcast, Best Rap Artist, Best Restaurant, Best Kid/Teen Entrepreneur, Best DJ, Best Makeup Artist, Best Comedian, and Entrepreneur of the Year.

Musical performers included Eric Tyler, Church Boii, City Worship, Ayron Alexander, Nick Bindope, Z Baby, Gateway HighSteppers, Suli4Q, On the 1 Band, and Jass Couch. The show honored Grammy-Nominated music producer Jo Macklin and Grammy Award-Winning music producer J White. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas also made a surprise appearance at the show and presented an award.
