Robert Pattinson is changing up his look as he enters the barren desert of Arrakis.

In the first trailer for Dune: Part Three, which Warner Bros. released on Tuesday, March 17, fans of the trilogy caught a few glimpses at the Twilight alum’s bleached hair and brows as he steps into the role of Scytale, a shapeshifter whose goal is to end the rule of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.

Beyond introducing Pattinson’s new look, the trailer revisited Chalamet, 30, and Zendaya‘s characters, Paul Atreides and Chani, as they welcome a child and reckon with the outcomes of Paul’s decisions 17 years after he became emperor of the known universe.

Denis Villeneuve, the writer-director who adapted the franchise’s third movie from the Frank Berbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, unveiled the action-packed trailer at a special event in Los Angeles on March 16, noting that he “felt an appetite for the third movie that I was not expecting” after releasing Dune: Part Two in March 2024.

“When you make a series of movies, you are in a relationship with the audience,” he said. “I felt a responsibility to finish the story. And I went back home. I said to my crew, ‘I’m taking a break. That’s it. Bye-bye.’ ”

“I went back home and I kept awaking in the middle of the night with those images,” he continued. “I was supposed to do another movie in the meantime, but the image of Dune: Part Three, inspired by Dune Messiah, kept coming back, kept coming back, and I said, ‘Oh, all right, let’s do it!’ “
