Disney is bringing a fresh animated story to the big screen, with Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones officially set to star in the upcoming film Hexed.

Disney Animation Studios revealed its latest project Hexed during CinemaCon 2026, announcing that Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones will lead the film as a mother-daughter duo.

In the film, Steinfeld voices an unconventional teenage girl whose life takes a magical turn, while Jones plays her mother. The story centers on their relationship as they navigate unexpected supernatural events that disrupt their everyday lives.

Early footage shown at CinemaCon offered a first look at the film’s tone, blending humor, heart, and fantasy elements. The project is expected to follow Disney’s signature style of combining emotional storytelling with visually engaging animation.

The casting marks another major voice role for Steinfeld, who has previously found success in animated projects like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Her continued work in both film and music highlights her versatility as an artist across multiple entertainment spaces.

For Rashida Jones, the film adds to her diverse career spanning acting, writing, and producing, bringing her into the animated space alongside one of Hollywood’s most recognizable voices.

With Hexed, Disney appears to be leaning into a new generation of storytelling, combining coming-of-age themes with magical elements and a strong focus on family dynamics.
