Sheryl Lee Ralph isn’t ready to leave Abbott Elementary anytime soon. As the hit ABC comedy prepares to launch its sixth season on October 7th, the Emmy-winning actress says she can imagine the series enjoying the kind of extraordinary longevity achieved by Grey’s Anatomy, which is entering its 23rd season.

As the ABC workplace sitcom enters its sixth season, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8:30/7:30c, the Golden Globe nominee imagines it catching up to Grey’s Anatomy’s 23-season run.
“I look at it like this: If Grey’s Anatomy could be on for 20 years, why can’t we?” said Ralph to People.
After premiering back in 2005, Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC with Season 23 on Oct. 15 at 10/9c, maintaining its position as the network’s longest-running scripted primetime show.
Ralph says she remains excited about discovering new sides of Barbara Howard and credits Quinta Brunson, the show’s writers, cast and fans for keeping the experience rewarding. After earning 37 Emmy nominations and four wins since its 2021 debut, Abbott Elementary continues its run with Ralph more than willing to stay along for the journey.
