Prime Video has officially renewed Mike Flanagan’s television adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie for a second season following its October 7th premiere. The renewal moves Flanagan closer to realizing his previously discussed three-season vision for the supernatural horror series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Amazon announced the Season 2 renewal on October 22, describing the show’s debut as impressive without releasing specific viewership figures. Flanagan, who serves as creator and showrunner, previously revealed plans for a three-season adaptation of King’s original novel. The renewal will allow the creative team to continue exploring Carrie White’s story beyond the events traditionally associated with the character.
Flanagan expressed appreciation for King’s support in expanding the narrative beyond the iconic prom-night storyline. The filmmaker has established a reputation for horror television through projects including The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. His adaptation of Carrie continues his work exploring emotionally complex characters within supernatural settings.
King, who also serves as an executive producer, welcomed the renewal and expressed excitement about the next chapter. Amazon has not announced a production schedule or release date for Season 2. Additional casting and storyline details are expected to be revealed as development continues.
