Kacey Musgraves is continuing her exploration of Texas and Mexican musical traditions with Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes, a 16-track companion album scheduled for release January 15, 2027, through Lost Highway Records.

According to SPIN, the project follows Musgraves’ May album Middle of Nowhere and features 11 original songs alongside five covers. Four tracks are performed entirely in Spanish. The collection further explores the musical and cultural connections between Texas and Mexico.
The album continues Musgraves’ interest in blending country music with regional influences and storytelling. Its mixture of original material and reinterpretations expands the creative direction of the earlier release. The Spanish-language recordings also introduce another dimension to her musical catalog.
The project is scheduled to arrive through Lost Highway Records. It follows a career that has included acclaimed albums such as Golden Hour and Deeper Well. Musgraves’ latest announcement offers fans additional music inspired by her Texas roots.
