A professional lip reader claimed to decode a whispered exchange between Chalamet and his sister Pauline Chalamet in which the actor allegedly told her to “go easy” on Jenner as they interacted during the star‑studded event. The moment, captured in footage from the ceremony, has since sparked discussion online about the couple’s public outing and the interpretation of the lip‑reading.

Timothée Chalamet was front row at the Oscars last night, which means evvvvvery single thing he did and said was caught on camera. Including a conversation he had with his sister, Pauline Chalamet! The pair were filmed chatting to each other in the audience and had a totally nice/normal-seeming interaction before Pauline said hello to Kylie, who greeted her warmly and said something sweet about her outfit.
However, according to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling via The Mirror, Timothée and Pauline’s chat included him asking her to “go easy” on Kylie.
Per Nicola, Timothée asks his sister, “Where are you sitting?” She points to her seat, Kylie says hi, and then Timothée and Pauline pose for a photo. At this point, he allegedly asks, “How you doing?” and then whispers, “Could you go easy on her?” Pauline allegedly responds, “Okay,” while Timmy adds, “I want you to go easy on her.”
Honestly…I watched this several times and am not convinced he said that, but I’m no expert lip reader, so!
As a reminder, there have been rumors about Pauline and Kylie’s relationship ever since she took a stand against billionaires on Instagram last year, which everyone read into. But they’ve been seen laughing and chatting at multiple events over the years, so it seems like they get along just fine. Meanwhile, Kylie’s family has fully embraced Timmy. “When they are in L.A. together, he spends time with her kids, too,” a source told People last year. “Her family loves that she’s dating him. They have seen such positive changes in Kylie. She’s the happiest.”
