Vivica A. Fox to Host 2026 Truth Awards, Lalah Hathaway to Perform

LOS ANGELES, CA — March 12, 2026 – The Truth Awards, a premier event honoring Black LGBTQ+ excellence and allyship, has announced its most distinguished lineup yet for the 2026 gala. Award-winning actress Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day, Kill Bill, and Two Can Play That Game) will host the evening. Later that evening, five-time GRAMMY winner Lalah Hathaway will headline the performances on Saturday, March 21, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The 12th annual Truth Awards will return March 21 to the Beverly Hilton Hotel, with Vivica A. Fox set to host and five-time Grammy winner Lalah Hathaway headlining the evening’s performances.
Presented by Better Brothers Los Angeles and The DIVA Foundation, the annual fundraiser celebrates Black LGBTQ+ leaders, creators and allies across media, entertainment and advocacy.
This year’s honorees include journalist Don Lemon, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his reporting on national and global issues. Actor and activist Jenifer Lewis will be honored with the Ally Award. Television producer Carlos King will receive the Media & Arts Award, while comedian Flame Monroe will be recognized with the Entertainer Award.
Additional honorees include Grammy-winning musician Durand Bernarr for Music & Arts, filmmaker Nneka Onuorah with the Breakout Star Award and scholar and activist Dr. Keith Green with the Bayard Rustin Advocacy Award.
Presenters scheduled to appear include Sheryl Lee Ralph, Karine Jean-Pierre, Jermelle Simon, Terrell Carter, Obio Jones and Steven G. Norfleet, among others.
The event will also feature a tribute marking the 30th anniversary of the 1995 film “Waiting to Exhale,” with performances by Toni Scruggs, Keisha Renée, Isaiah Zay and Johnny Manuel.
Founded to uplift Black LGBTQ+ voices, the Truth Awards also support scholarships for students, with organizers noting that more than $300,000 in tuition assistance has been awarded since the program’s inception. The weekend celebration will conclude with a community gospel brunch and panel discussion bringing together artists, honorees and supporters.
