The need for speed is back—Top Gun 3 is officially taking flight.
According to Variety, Top Gun 3 is officially in development, with Tom Cruise set to return as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. The announcement was made during Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation, confirming that the blockbuster franchise will continue following the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick.
The new installment is currently in the early stages, with a script already underway. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also set to return, reuniting key creative forces behind the previous films.
The sequel builds on the momentum of Top Gun: Maverick, which became a global box office phenomenon and one of the most successful films of Cruise’s career.
While plot details remain under wraps, the project is expected to continue exploring Maverick’s story as well as the next generation of elite fighter pilots introduced in the previous film.
