Rosario Dawson is revealing a behind-the-scenes surprise involving Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actress confirmed that she filmed a scene reprising her role as Claire Temple, the nurse she originally portrayed in Marvel’s Daredevil and other MCU series, but the scene was ultimately removed from the final film. Dawson shared the news during a GalaxyCon panel, joking about receiving the disappointing update after she had already prepared to share behind-the-scenes photos from the production. Despite the scene being cut, Dawson remains hopeful that she will get another opportunity to return as Claire Temple in the Marvel universe.

During a “Daredevil” fan Q&A alongside Vincent D’Onofrio at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dawson was asked which superhero she most wanted to work with and let slip that Claire was actually meant to return once again in the box office hit “Brand New Day.”
“Well, I’m going to have to say — I could have said Spider-Man,” Dawson said. “I even shot a scene in the new ‘Spider-Man’ movie, but I got cut out.”
In response to groans from the crowd, Dawson added: “I know. I told my mom, and she was like, ‘That sucks. Now I can’t post the pictures.’ And I was like, ‘Right mom, me being cut out of the movie that has the largest viewership of a trailer ever, the issue is you can’t post the BTS photos.'”
Dawson went on to explain how much Spider-Man means to her, saying that her uncle is a comic book artist and that was the first character he learned how to draw.
“There’s a frame in one of the new comics that has a young Spider-Man talking to Daredevil, and they made it so that the young Spider-Man goes to PS19 in the Lower East Side, which is where I went to elementary school,” Dawson continued. “So when I tell you my post was already ready with my BTS, with my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff … Then I got the email that was like, ‘Yeah, nah.'”
Even though Dawson called herself “a reject of Spider-Man,” she hopes that one day her character might still cross paths with the web-slinging hero.
