Whoopi Goldberg, Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams and Jenifer Lewis are joining forces for Netflix’s upcoming comedy Women Like Us. Directed by Tasha Smith, the film follows a recently widowed woman whose trip to the Hamptons with her lifelong friends and sister becomes a journey through grief, marriage, sisterhood and rediscovering dreams.

First Lady Michelle Obama. Goldberg and Fox will star in Women Like Us, along with Jenifer Lewis and Vanessa Williams, centering on the lifelong friendship with each other set in the Hamptons. One of the women is recently widowed and is whisked away by her best friends and sister on what would’ve been her 30th wedding anniversary.
According to Netflix’s longline,
“The weekend becomes a reckoning with grief, marriage, and the sisterhood that’s carried them throughout the years — as well as the realization that dreams don’t have an expiration date. In other words, there’s plenty of emotional baggage coming along for the trip.”
During last week’s episode of The View’s podcast, “Behind the Table,” the show’s executive producer Brian Teta revealed the moderator will be away from her duties for a few weeks to film the project and will have former co-hosts Star Jones, Lisa Ling, Sherri Shepherd and Debbie Matenopoulos fill in for her. No word on when the flick will be available for streaming.
With four veteran performers leading the cast and Smith behind the camera, Women Like Us brings together an impressive lineup of Black Hollywood talent. Michelle Obama and Higher Ground are also involved as executive producers, with production slated for New York.
