Taylor Swift is set to make another piece of MTV history tonight. The superstar will receive the first-ever Artist Director Honors at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, recognizing her growing body of work behind the camera and moving her past Beyoncé as the most-awarded artist in VMA history.

Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors during tonight’s ceremony, CBS and MTV announced. The new award recognizes music artists whose work behind the camera has pushed creative boundaries and advanced visual storytelling.
The new honor will also break Swift’s tie with Beyoncé as the most decorated artist in VMAs history. The two entered this year with 30 Moon Person awards apiece; the Artist Director award will bring Swift’s total to 31.
Music’s biggest stars are taking over Los Angeles tonight for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards! Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the highly anticipated celebration kicks off live at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV. Fans across the U.S. can also stream the action live on Paramount+ Premium as the VMAs deliver a night packed with unforgettable performances, major wins and must-see moments.
