Tom Holland has found his dance partners for the upcoming Fred Astaire biopic. Sabrina Carpenter has been cast as legendary screen partner Ginger Rogers, while Margaret Qualley will portray Astaire’s older sister and original dance partner Adele Astaire. Holland will take on the title role in the long-developing Sony Pictures project directed by Paul King.

As previously announced, Holland will play the debonair dancer in the upcoming film, directed by Paul King, with Amy Pascal producing. Golden Globe nominee Qualley (“Maid,” “The Substance,” “Love of Your Life”) will star as Adele Astaire, while Grammy winner Carpenter will portray Ginger Rogers. Fred and Adele were major stars on Broadway and London’s West End before Fred went on to be one of cinema’s greatest stars, with co-star and dance partner Ginger Rogers.
In addition to starring in the film, Holland is also among the producers on the project (via his Billy 17 banner), alongside Pascal and Rachel O’Connor (for Pascal Pictures); and Ben Holden and Josh Hyams (for Lightbulb Pictures). Executive producers are Harry Holland and Will South (on behalf of Billy17), Will Clarke and Andy Mayson (Altitude Films) and Levenson.
The film will explore two defining partnerships in Astaire’s career: his early stage success alongside Adele and his iconic Hollywood collaborations with Rogers. With Holland, Qualley and Carpenter now in place, the long-awaited project is assembling the performers who will bring that dance history back to the big screen.
