Mindy Kaling is stepping in front of the camera for Season 3 of Netflix’s hit sports comedy Running Point. The actress, writer and executive producer will join the cast in a recurring role opposite series star Kate Hudson.
According to TheWrap, Kaling will portray Divya, the confident CEO of a popular gambling app. Her character shares similarities with Hudson’s Isla Gordon as a female executive working in a male-dominated industry. However, Divya quickly becomes a source of conflict for Isla.
Production on the third season is underway in Los Angeles. Hudson will direct the season premiere, marking her television directorial debut. Returning cast members include Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, Chet Hanks and Justin Theroux, with additional recurring appearances from Ray Romano and others.
