Juicy J is opening up about a memorable moment in Three 6 Mafia’s history, revealing the heartfelt gesture Dolly Parton made after the group famously defeated the country music icon at the 2006 Academy Awards. The rapper shared the story while reflecting on the group’s groundbreaking Oscar victory and Parton’s gracious response.

“The only person almost excited as y’all were was Dolly Parton,” Jelly Roll quipped after they replayed the 2006 Oscars clip, which showed Parton cheering on Three 6 even in defeat.
“She sent us a letter and signed it and said, ‘Congratulations and I’m glad somebody from Tennessee won the Oscar,'” Juicy J shared of Parton’s kind gesture.
Juicy said he met Dolly before they went on stage and then headed to the “longest Oscar party in the world” to celebrate the group’s victory.
Three 6 Mafia made history at the 2006 Oscars when “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” (Hustle & Flow) won best original song over Dolly Parton’s “Travelin’ Thru” (Transamerica) and Kathleen York’s “In the Deep” (Crash).
With the win, Three 6 became the first hip-hop group to win an Oscar; they were also the first rap act to perform at the ceremony.
