Brazilian mixed martial artist Ketlen Vieira has received a six-month suspension following a positive drug test after her August 22nd fight against Cris Cyborg. The disciplinary action adds another development to a bout already affected by Vieira missing the required weight limit.
According to Sherdog, Vieira tested positive for a banned steroidal substance following her Professional Fighters League appearance against Cyborg in Tampa, Florida. Mike Mazzulli, director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, confirmed that both her initial and confirmation samples produced adverse findings. Vieira received a six-month suspension retroactive to the August 22nd fight date.

The bout was originally scheduled as a PFL women’s featherweight title defense for Cyborg. However, Vieira missed weight by more than seven pounds, resulting in the matchup becoming a non-title contest. Cyborg ultimately agreed to compete despite the weight difference and secured the victory.
Vieira acknowledged the positive test and said she used the substance to treat a knee injury. Cyborg responded by emphasizing the importance of independent drug testing and maintaining fair competition. The former UFC champion also indicated that she intends to continue her combat sports career with additional MMA and boxing appearances.
