Filmmaker Tyler Perry is bringing faith, family, and gospel music to Netflix this holiday season with his upcoming film, Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas. Premiering November 11th, 2026, the musical drama stars Grammy-winning singer and actress Fantasia Barrino alongside R&B singer Tank, with an extraordinary lineup of gospel legends including CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond, and The Clark Sisters. The production also features music produced by Grammy-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin.

Written and directed by Tyler Perry, The Gospel of Christmas follows Isaac Jefferson, portrayed by Tank, a struggling pastor who inherits his family’s church in a troubled New York City neighborhood. Joined by his wife Rebecca, played by Fantasia, Isaac faces mounting challenges as he attempts to restore the congregation and protect his family. His journey becomes increasingly complicated by doubt, temptation, and an adversary threatening everything he hopes to rebuild. As the pastor confronts these obstacles, he must rediscover his faith and embrace the power of prayer to bring hope and healing to his community. The holiday film explores themes of perseverance, spiritual renewal, and the importance of the Black church, combining dramatic storytelling with contemporary and traditional gospel music.

The ensemble features some of gospel music’s most celebrated voices, including CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, Jekalyn Carr, Le’Andria Johnson, Hezekiah Walker, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Ann Nesby, and members of The Clark Sisters. Additional cast members include Chanté Moore and Ricco Ross, while Kirk Franklin oversees the film’s music, which incorporates gospel, rap, and holiday selections. The project marks another major screen appearance for Fantasia following her acclaimed portrayal of Celie in the 2023 film adaptation of The Color Purple. Perry serves as a producer alongside Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland. The film also reunites Perry with Fantasia, who has spoken about his mentorship during the early stages of her career.

With its combination of celebrated musical talent, heartfelt storytelling, and a message centered on faith and community, The Gospel of Christmas brings a distinctive gospel-inspired perspective to Netflix’s holiday film lineup while showcasing the enduring cultural influence of Black gospel music.
