Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone is revealing a surprising chapter from his early life in his new memoir, The Steps. The Rocky star recalls spending approximately a week and a half in a New York City jail during the early 1970s, years before achieving international recognition as one of Hollywood’s most successful action stars.

According to Entertainment Weekly, in Stallone’s memoir, the incident occurred while he was working at a delicatessen in New York City and struggling to establish himself as an actor. A confrontation developed after he was instructed to inform a businessman that the establishment would no longer use his services. The encounter ultimately resulted in Stallone’s arrest.

The aspiring actor was held at the Manhattan House of Detention, commonly known as The Tombs. Stallone described the experience as deeply frightening, recalling the harsh conditions he encountered while incarcerated. His account provides another perspective on the financial uncertainty and personal difficulties that preceded his breakthrough success in Hollywood.

Stallone’s reflections offer readers a closer look at the challenges that shaped his determination and resilience long before Rocky transformed his career.
